bahiya (Jewl Petteway) comes from a vast Middle Eastern dance and music background, with a few years of butoh dance training from master butoh artists. She was raised in D.C. surrounded by music, as both her parents teach and play music professionally. She played classical flute throughout school and studied celtic/swedish fiddle with Andrea Hoag. Jewl has played live and recorded with Al Petteway and Seattle Middle Eastern bands Hejira and Ek Balaam. Recently, she has been focusing on experimental sounds as a solo act, with entropic advance, and usA (unbridled sonic Anarchy). http://www.raqsjawahir.com/
